BUTTER LONDON Swatch Fest

Today I have for you guys swatches of 6 different Butter London colors! Oh la la!

TOP L->R: Disco Biscuit, Dosh, Victoriana
BOTTOM L->R: The Black Knight, British Racing Green, Blagger

I've never tried Butter London until last week. I'm not one to dish out $14 a bottle, $10 is my limit... I just don't feel comfortable spending that much. Fortunately for me, I had a gift card to Macy's! And after and uneventful trip to Columbia, SC (where the Macy's is "too small to sell [Butter London] I was told)... I went and bought some online. Lucky for me that weekend they were giving a free bottle of Dosh with every $25+ purchase! (Stick around and I'll tell you how to get the most bang for your buck!)

THENN I was lucky enough to score The Black Knight when trading with a friend :]

So without anymore of my jibber jabber, here are my swatches!

Butter London Disco Biscuit, 2 coats over Julep Drew

If there is anything I HATE photographing when I do swatches, it's hot pinks. They never can quite be perfect :[ This is pretty close, just a bit brighter in person I'd say. Disco Biscuit is a super hot pink jelly packed with purple/blue iridescent micro glitter! True story, I bought this for its name... I'm not a big pink polish fan. BUT I do enjoy the brightness this polish has and the pretty glitter!

Thanks to someone on my Facebook page I knew to layer this over Julep Drew, perfect. Drew is also a ONE coater by the way. Disco Biscuit is suuuuuppper sheer on it's own. It also really needs a top coat. It isn't rough to the touch but it looks dry and rough without a top coat.

Dosh was the gift with purchase Macy's had the weekend I bought my polishes. I'm kind of glad it was! This isn't something I'd really pick up when trying a new brand. Its so pretty and ugly at the same time! this is a light green, reminds me of celery, packed with a ton of shimmer. This is 2 coats, I feel I could of went for a thinner 3rd coat though. Pretty cool color if you ask me!

When browsing Butter London polishes a few months ago, this is the polish I knew I wanna try. How could you NOT want to try this polish? It's a dusty light blue/teal color with tons of silver shimmer. Kind of reminds me of the shimmer in Dosh, but stands out a bit more. AHHHHHHH look at this AND IT'S BEAUTY! So pretty! I could of went for thinner 3rd coat with this as well.

This is the one I got in a swap. I'm not sure WHY I wanted this polish, maybe it was the hype I've seen and the fact it's always sold out at Ulta when I stop by. Black polishes aren't my thing really... I kind of like this though, not sure to what degree though haha. This is a black jelly, which is pretty sheer alone, with toooooons of glitter. There is purple, blue, red, and gold glitter. It does seem to have a little bit of holographic glitter as well, very subtle though. I'm not sure why but this reminds me of Mardi Gras beads haha.

Then I got creative:

Nail art using Butter London The Black Knight and MAC Immortal Gold

Ugh, don't look too closely at that. The idea was tons better in my head *sigh*... I was trying to play off the gold shimmmer, just didn't work out well, don't you HHHHATE when that happens? Moving on... nothing to see here folks!

2 coats of Butter London British Racing Green

Anyone have any clue what British racing has to do with green? I don't, just wondering haha. So DUH this made it into my cart, I freaking LOVE dark greens! This is a deep, dark green, almost teal-ish. There is a shimmer throughout, it kind of helps it looks less dark. I kind of wish there was more silver shimmer, but this will do for now :] I do like this very much so!

2 coats of Butter London Blagger

This polish, this polish! This polish is the one that MADE me want to buy Butter London. Holy gorgeous cobalt blue! Freaking gorgeousness! Such a pretty creme polish! It was almost good to go in 1 coat, but 2 coats make it perfect. I really don't have much to say because this polish kind of made me speechless haha

WHEW! Overall I'm actually pretty impressed with Butter London and their polishes! I was expecting to be dissapointed, but these really were worth the $14 price tag. I had no problems with application issues and they dried in a decent amount of time. No complaints really! (Except the Disco Biscuit needs a top coat ASAP one haha)

Here's how I'm going to save you money, well kind of haha just some tips!
1) IF you are not signed up with Ebates, you NNNNNNEEEEEEEEEED to be! On Ebates you get 6% back when you shop Macys.com, which is a good amount considering most sites are 3%ish back. All you have to do is go to Ebates and click through their link to the site before shopping and you get MONEY!

Did you put your nice pants on today? Here is my referral link :] I'm pretty sure within a certain amount of time from the point you sign up, you get a gift card when you spend $20ish.

2) Macy's online deals: FREE shipping with a $50 beauty purchase at Macy's, this is automatic. It seems most of the time the coupons don't work on beauty items. BUT if you are looking to grab some Butter London polishes I recommend watching the Macy's website because I've seen a lot of gift with purchase deals for Butter London.

Hope you enjoyed my review and swatches! Any Butter Londons you reccommend? Any you want?!

Until tomorrow,
Lacey

  3. I think the "british racing green" refers to grass for a horse race or something along those lines... LOL. Sprry if any British people read that and I totally messed it up ;)

  7. British Racing Green refers to a particular shade of green, taken from the "international motor racing colour of Britain," more or less.
