I'm going to have 3 facts about breast cancer in every Go Pink Wednesday post. Here are October 3rd's facts:
1) "Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women". National Breast Cancer
2) "Only 5% to 10% of breast cancers occur in women with a defined genetic predisposition for the disease. The majority of breast cancer cases are "sporadic," meaning there is no direct family history of the disease". Web MD
3) "The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2012, about 226,870 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer". Web MD
I hope you read those facts! (If you didn't, go read them! That's a demand btw haha) Now that you've educated yourself, on to manicure pictures and a short support ribbon tutorial!
I figured I couldn't do my first GPW post without some breast cancer support ribbons! So I made some and added the phrase "Save the Ta-tas" :]
I used Zoya Dita for the darker pink, Essie Off the Shoulder for the light pink, and Color Club Candy cane for the pink and silver glitter! I did a short tutorial of how to draw the ribbons since I want all ya'll to rock some pink ribbons on your nails this month!
STEP 1: Paint a V shape.
STEP 2: Connect the top of the V.
STEP 3: Paint another V, upside down, extending from your triangle shape. This creates the blank space in the center of the ribbon.
STEP 4: Fill in around the shape you created, making it more bold and ribbon like :]
When it comes to breast cancer there's three main things you can do:
Educate yourself, educate others, and donate to improve the education, treatment and research of breast cancer. For more information visit these websites:
http://ww5.komen.org/
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/breast
http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org
I'm not saying donate your first born or a million bucks! Maybe $5? I'm donating some of my precious polish money in the middle of the month! Join me?
Go Pink Wednesday is not a blogger exclusive event! Readers are highly encouraged to participate! I invite you to paint your nails pink and share with Finger Painting Fingers and my Facebook page!

Thanks for the facts, Lacey, sometimes seeing the numbers puts things in perspective. It is so random too, my mom didn't have any of the "risk factors" when she was diagnosed. Your pink mani is pur-ty! I love your glittery ribbons and I love your ta-tas too! (the words on your nails, lol) Thanks for joing me for Go Pink Wednesday!
