Domestic Violence Awareness - "Break Silence" Stamping Manicure

Lazy Sunday for me! Hope your weekend went well :)

October, October. A month of Halloween and best known for breast cancer awareness month. Often, because those are so widely known, other awarenesses that share October are overlooked. You can find a list of awareness months here.

The ones, besides breast cancer awareness, that stand out to me the most for October are Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Infant Loss Awareness, Bully Prevention and Domestic Violence Awareness.

So, today's "the list" manicure is inspired by Domestic Violence Awareness in October.

Like my Go Pink Monday posts, I present you with facts:

1) "Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15 and 44 in the United States, more than car accidents, muggings, and rapes combined". Source

2) "1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime". Source

3) "1 in 10 calls made to alert police of domestic violence is placed by a child in the home". Source

Ok, now that the educational business is over, you can click over for the mani ;)

I actually did this manicure first:

I wasn't happy with the "break silence" lettering andddd I smudged it lmao. So I went for something more abstract:

I used Bundle Monster 321 for the ribbons and 208 for the shatter (in both manicures). I used Sinful Colors Black on Black, my go to black, and a no name purple Cosmetic Arts polish, previously seen here. The purple didn't come across as dark as I wanted so, I used a striping brush and went over them with more polish to make them pop more.

If you are currently a victim of domestic violence, of ANY kind, please tell someone! A teacher, a family friend, someone at church, anyone that you trust. If someone loves you, as they say, they would respect you and never lay a hand on you. Get yourself the help and peace you deserve.

I'm not an expert of any kind, I am just a strong believer of what is right and wrong.

I hope this wasn't a downer for your Sunday! Knowing the majority of my readers are women's of all ages, I couldn't avoid doing this post.

See you for Manic-ure Giveaways tomorrow!

  1. I agree. Some things are just wrong. A spouse is not a parent punishing their child so they'll learn better as an adult. That's not their place. I wish more people would avoid/leave abusive relationships so HOPEFULLY these people would realize it's not acceptable. Staying just encourages bad behavior. Also, super cool stamping. :)
