[CLOSED] SCHICK: Hydro Silk Razor (PLUS GIVEAWAY!)

Usually I do these posts on Saturdays but I felt like I was depriving you guys of posts :P

Schick Hydro Silk Razor
Today is another NPR (non polish related) post. But still beauty related :] I'm going to take a look at the Schick Hydro Silk razor. The big idea this razor tries to make is that it's a great moisturizing razor. As most of you know, I have eczema. My legs are no exception, sadly! While eczema doesn't flare up on my legs, they are fairly dry 24/7 no matter what kind of lotion, how much lotion I put on them :[ SO, I was looking forward to trying out this razor! Check out my review after the jump for more info!

It's almost spring time! That means SHORTS! Which means time to give in and shave your legs :P Or, I guess the bottom half of your legs if you favor capris hahahah we've all done it! Admit it ;]

I usually don't buy any sort of fancy dancy razors LOL to be honest, I buy the freaking $2.99 pack of like 15 2 blade razors from Big Lots. Hey! It gets the job done :P So this was a total 180 for me!

Schick Hydro Silk Razor package contents
Inside the starter kit, is the razor with head already attached, a refill cartridge, and a suction cup razor holder. Like I said before, this razor is REALLY focused on being moisturizing. Here are some features of the Schick Hydro Silk:
  • Features a special water activated moisturizing serum that is said to replenish skin's natural moisture throughout each shave.
  • Has 5 Curve Sensing blades to achieve incredible closeness.
  • Has been dermatologist tested and is acceptable to use on most skin types, even sensitive skin.
  • Skin Guards are added to each blade. This doubles contact between the blades and your skin. Less strokes used means less irritation.
  •  By having this, it helps to smooth your skin and reduce potential irritation.
  • The unique oval shape of the razor's head is meant to contour to a woman's body: ankles, knees and underarms.
  • The handle of the razor is soft touch and inspired by water for a beautiful look.
  • Has won 2012 Best Razor in the Cosmo Beauty Awards along with, Best Hair Remover in the 2012 Beauty Awards in Fitness Magazine, Prevention Magazine and Ladies Home Journal.
Now you have the 4-1-1 on this razor, Let's see how it compares to my regular $3 for 15 razors lmfao:

Razor Comparison
Blade Comparison
As you can tell there is a HUGE difference between the Schick Hydro Silk razor and my dinky basic razor. I don't even think I need to point them out haha, they're pretty self explanatory.

And how did I feel about this Schick Hydro Silk razor? My legs did feel a lot smoother that's for sure! In general I didn't notice any moisturizing difference but I felt it! Of course, I did put lotion on after I shaved my legs and in the end I didn't see much of a difference in all honesty.

The size of the razor head was interesting to me. I didn't mind it for my legs, but behind the knee felt awkward and I wasn't sure I was getting all up in there because the head was so large. (That's what she said) Somehow, I didn't miss any hair though! LOL The handle was a lot nicer to have a grip on versus a tiny stick, I didn't feel like it was going to slip out of my hand.

I am also impressed with how long the sharpness of the razor and the moisturizing quality lasts on this razor. I've been using it for almost 4 weeks now, 2-3x a week, and I've had no reason to change the blade! (And that includes my husband being too lazy to go buy new razors and he used it to shave his face every morning for 2 weeks lmao... men!)

You can find the Schick Hydro Silk razor at most grocery stores, drug stores and mass retailers. The starter kit is priced for about $9.50, and a pack of 4 refill cartridges are about $15. It's a little pricy for a razor for me personally, I might splurge on a refill pack though sometime! Just I feel I have other things to spend money on, y'know?

Want to give it a shot but don't feel like paying the price? WELL lucky for you guys! BzzAgent and Schick sent me a booklet of $5 off coupons for starter kids! So, that means you'd get the kit for about $4.50! I have 6 coupons to giveaway. If you're interested enter below!

  1. I actually love this razor. I got a coupon to get the starter kit absolutely free and it's great. I don't shave often but I've been using the same one for 2+ months now and it's still working well. Very moisturizing.
