SERUM NO. 5: Day Glow, Happy Special Day, Rise and Grind, & Sky Lights

Serum No. 5 (L->R) Day Glow, Happy Special Day
Rise and Grind, and Sky Lights

Today I have 4 different Serum No. 5 polishes to share with you! I've received quite a few to review, so expect to see more! If you missed my last post check it out here. I wasn't going to blog today after I spent about 30 mins scrubbing China Glaze Glittering Garland out of my carpet haha but ish has to get done! These are some fun polishes, that would brighten up anyways day (or night, you'll see) check them out!

The close ups, of course:

First up is Day Glow:

It was funny, I knew this was a glow in the dark polish from seeing posts before getting these in the mail. I was all "meh, who want's a freakin' glow in the dark COLORED polish when you can layer clear glow in the dark over other colors?!" Shut up, Lacey. Funny part about this polish is I fell in love with the color of it hahahahaha. Some may think it's whatever, but it's an awesome pastel, neon yellow color! And of course, yes it glows in the dark as you can see. It's a bright green glow. I held my nails under a lamp for about 5-10 seconds at the most.

It was a little on the sheer side. I'd recommend layering this one over a white. I did 4 coats of DG on it's own, I usually won't go up to 4 and stop at 3. It had some balding here and there that was resolved by a 4th coat. It had a nice smooth application and a good dry time. No complaints here!

Happy Special Day is a glitter top coat. In it, you will find clear flakies, white square glitter, and a mix of different colored and sized hex, square and bar glitter. While multicolored glitter top coats are kind of a popular thing, meaning everyone seems to make one, this one stands out with the flakies.

I did 2 coats of HSD over Day Glow, from above. It had a nice smooth application, a good dry time and a good glitter coverage. Again, no issues with this one.

Coffee and/or hot chocolate. That's what this polish makes me crave... Bad polish, bad! Anyhow, Rise and Grind is made with a shimmery brown base, micro gold glitters, matte white hex, and light brown hex. I really like this mix, and it really came to life when I layered it over a dark brown polish.

I did 2 coats of R&G over Zoya Codie. It had a nice smooth application and a good dry time. The brown hex was a little bit hard to grab, so there is a need for a little digging if you want them on your nail. Also, the curl you see in the brown hex? It lays flat, it's strictly a reflective curl.

Another fine glow in the dark polish by Serum No. 5. Unlike the earlier one, this one glows BLUE! Which I was kinda surprised about, but happy to see haha I don't have any blue glowing polish :] Sky Lights, in addition to glowing in the dark, is a clear base with with a ton of iridescent shimmer.

I did 2 coats over China Glaze Manhunt. SL had a great dry time, and a smooth application. I have nothing bad to say about this polish or any of the other Serum No. 5 polishes I've reviewed so far!

  1. Great post! Didn't know of this brand, and didn't know about *blue* glow-in-the-dark polish. So sorry about the polish spill--saw a picture of it on Instagram. Can't believe you got dark green glitter polish off a light carpet!
