Square Hue February 2014 The Passport Collection: Tokyo
(L->R) Roppongi, Shibuya, and Ginza |
Hey guys! I haven't reviewed a Square Hue box in long time so I figured I'd share this month's box with you. I've received this sub box for over a year now and these are some of the most unique colors I've received from them yet.. so I couldn't
not share these fun polishes with you! Each month SquareHue releases a new collection which is a total surprise every time you get the box. This month's collection is Tokyo, featuring names of different districts and wards of Tokyo. After the jump I have swatches and review of this month's trio.

Roppongi is a lime green and iridecent glitter in a lime green base with gold shimmer. This is probably the most sheer of the 3. I was super excited when I opened the box and saw this glittery polish! I think this might be the most unique Square Hue polish I've received. I wish it wasn't so sheer, but I love the colors!
I did 2 coats of Roppongi over Wet n Wild Stand the Test of Lime. The application was great, smooth application with no issues. No issues with dry time either :]

Shibuya is a fuchsia base with micro shimmer that has a violet shift at certain angles. This was my favorite out of the trio, and yet again another unique polish from Square Hue that I can't compare to anything I've received before. I've seen swatches of this on its own but I wasn't in the mood to build up this polish lol.
I did 2 coats of Shibuya over China Glaze Traffic Jam. I had no issues with application or dry time with this one either.

Square Hue Ginza is a shimmery light blue polish. This was my least favorite of the 3, probably because I have a few polishes similar to this one, but the others take less effort to build up. Nonetheless it is still a pretty shade of blue with pretty shimmer. You can see some brush stroke marks, but it isn't obnoxious or too obvious unless you're staring for a bit hahaha.
I did 2 coats of Ginza over Sinful Colors Grecian Sun. Yet again, I didn't have any issues with applying this polish and dry time was also without problems :]
If you're not happy with Julep, I highly suggest checking out this subscription. I've kept this sub for over a year and I have never been disappointed with the formulas with this brand. The only down side I could see is that you don't get to select the polishes you receive, it is a 100% mystery until boxes are received. You can find more info about this sub in my
first Square Hue post :]
TTYL,
These are great colors!

ReplyDeleteWow, these are gorgeous! Usually the square hue polishes are kind of boring, glad to see them stepping up their game!
ReplyDeleteDef out of the norm for Square Hue! It was a nice surprise, I do love their cremes though ;]
