NCLA Duchess of LA Collection (L->R) Posh and Privileged,
Lavish Spender, A Touch of Class, and Let Them Eat Cake |
So a few weeks a go I won the
NCLA Duchess of LA Collection on
The Beauty of Life's Blog! I was totally stoked because I've never tried NCLA polishes. I've known about them for a hot minute, I just don't know why I've never pulled the trigger. Then again, brands pop up all the time - it's hard for me to keep track of what I want to try haha. So check out swatches of these 4 creamy glitter bombs after the jump.

Posh and Privileged is a "
regal combo of a classic crème base decorated with lavish specks of glitter". In terms of an actual description haha - it's a light, peachy pink creme base with magenta, orange and red hex of different sizes. I really like the glitter combo, however the base color isn't for me! Luckily, I have a friend ready to take this one off my hands :P This color just doesn't work with my lobster fingers!
I did 3 coats of Posh and Privileged, plus top coat. It had a nice smooth application and great glitter coverage. I was pretty impressed with the dry time for the creamy white pink base.

Next up is Lavish Spender, this is the one I was most excited for! This is a "
sophisticated mint shade infused with jewel-like glitter"... a very light, minty creme base with purple, green and silver hexes of different sizes. I just think this one look so unique. The green and purple glitter together is something I just love about this polish!
I did 4 coats of Lavish Spender, plus top coat. This was a little too sheer for my tastes, I'll probably layer it over some undies next time. It does make for a nice sandwich-y look thought! No big issues with dry time, I waited between coats due to how sheer the first coat was.

A Touch of Class is a "
playful pastel blue shade with flecks of glam glitter" - creme polish with hexes of different sizes in gold, silver, blue, and magenta. This one is super pretty, I love the color of the base. I feel like this one has a super duper Indie polish feel to it for some reason, don't you?
I did 2 coats of A Touch of Class, plus top coat. I was super pleased with the opacity in 2 coats with this one, too bad they all can't be like that! Glitter coverage was great. No issues or complaints about dry time.

NCLA Let Them Eat Cake |
Let Them Eat Cake is a "
decadent pastel purple shade topped with glittering sprinkles" in silver, periwinkle, purple, and magenta. Those dark purple hexes are KILLING ME! They're so pretty hahaha. This one was my second favorite to Lavish Spender, I just really liked the look of this one.
I did 3 coats of Let Them Eat Cake, plus top coat. This one has the best application out of the 4. It was the smoothest one to work with. No issues with this one at all.
Out of all these polishes I'll have to go with Let Them Eat Cake and Lavish Spender as my top picks. I was quite impressed by these NCLA polishes. Probably some of the better mainstream creme baed glitters I've used. My only complaint was that half of the brushes had random bristles poking out. Easy fix, I just snipped them off - but still when you buy a new polish (ESPECIALLY at $18 a pop) you don't expect that.
I don't know much about NCLA besides they have pretty colors and they're made in LA. I was happy to find out that they are a: "'
5 Free' luxury nail lacquer [...] 100% free of DBP, toulene, and formaldehyde, but also of camphor and animal testing". Always nice to add a 5F brand to the list! :]
I'm so glad I picked up these gorgeous fall colors. What do you think of them! Again, I found I Choo-Choo Choose You at Sally's and Side-Saddle at a local beauty store. I wasn't able to find Side-Saddle on Sally's or Ulta's website, so your best bet is probably find it online :]
See ya later, alligators,
I agree with your top picks. I also liked Let Them Eat Cake. The blue, A Touch of Class, had that ugly '70's bathroom vibe for me. I didn't care for it. I'm not a big fan of the sprinkles. Mostly b/c they sometimes don't look like I'd like, well, without getting tweezers out to place them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review. I always love to see what the expensive nail polishes look like.
